Children Seeing Themselves and Others in the Literature that We Teach

Keynote speaker, Dr. Muhammad will discuss the history and purpose of diverse literacy in classroom libraries, in addition to how to vet current materials for biases and in turn, use inclusive texts to aid in instructional practices. In addition, there will be three breakout sessions (PreK-5, 6-12, and Administration). Registrants will choose one breakout session to attend and hear from Michigan educators and administrators about real-life applications of diverse literature in and outside of classrooms, funding, and much more. Breakout sessions include live Q & A opportunities.
